ODE
aan de verveling

On the invitation of Rijksmuseum Twente I developed a performance titled 'ODE to boredom'. The performance is inspired on the painting 'Meisje in witte kimono' from Hendrik Georg Breitner, part of the museum collection. In the Rijksmuseum, in the room with the painting, and in the Balengebouw a few woman spent five afternoons in boredom. They mumble, sing and stare. Playing with sudden thoughts, using the flashes of 'nothing'. Ode to boredom, a spark of creativity.

The choice for clothes is minimalised. I asked the performers for existing clothes and let a tailor in Enschede make copies in an uniform fabric. A design that I earlier develop for the project Tinder Touch; grey, silkscreen printed glass-pearls. An at first sight boring fabric, that enlightens with special light, it appears out of nothing and disappears in itself.
