Disaster is a situation, a proposal for exchange. Our search for love and
contact knows explosive forms. It may happen that this search degenerates
into a disaster. The execution of a disaster happens very quickly, situations
change within a few seconds. Is, with disaster entering, all vision of
paradise lost?
In Love Disaster I blend the attempt to prevent with disaster. Signs, regulations, codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks, are mixed with images and maps of disasters that took place at several party venues. Such as the Beverly Hills Supperclub (US, 1977), Santika Pub (THA, 2009), and more recently the Love Parade (GER, 2010). I transform these facts and images in an installation consisting of collage, a model, video and performances. My fascination with disaster (even more: the prevention) can be traced back to my childhood and my father being a fire officer. |
